| Affiliate Programs |
| If you have your own website
you may want to join some affiliate programs. Companies list with an affiliate program as a seller for a fee.
For that fee they get people like you and me to put ads on our websites
for them and they pay us for clickthrus, leads, exposure and sales.
Different merchants pay different amounts for each. I belong to several
affiliate programs.
UPDATE: I have found that affiliate programs don't
really make you very much money unless you drive tons of traffic
to their sites. Each has a minimum payout somewhere between $25 -
$50 ... which takes a long time to rack up at 2 cents a click. You
might want to ad them anyway as a method of having interesting
content on your site but be aware that you probably won't rake in
the dough. After about a year of using them I've found that they
are a waste of time.

This program involves placing banner code on as many pages
as you want but the difference is that ValueClick rotates what goes in
that banner space automatically. You do have some control over what can
and cannot be displayed on your site and can eliminate types of sites OR
individual sites. You only get paid if a visitor to your site clicks on
the banner. I am a ValueClick Affiliate. |

This is a classic affiliate program. You join and select
the specific companies you want to advertise on your site. When you sign
up for a particular merchant you are reviewed to see if they want you to
be their affiliate. If you are approved then you add the link code to
your site and wait for people to click thru. Many pay for perclick or
percentage of sales. I am a clicktrade affiliate. |

| Using Links to Build
Traffic and thus Business |
| So you have a website. Big deal so do a
million other virtuals. You want to make money with your site then you
have to get TRAFFIC. Hmmmmmmmmm.... how do we do that? Well, there are a
lot of ways but one method is thru LINKS. You put your links on other
sites AND you host links. Out of the two you get more traffic by hosting
a links page or two. |

The ClickThru program pays you for surfing in
traffic to your own site. If you don't want to surf for credits
you can win them in online games or by posting ads like the one
to the left on your own site. You can also buy them for 10 cents
a click. |

You get one of these free services that offers free for
all links where they host the software and the traffic BUT you can place
a banner at the top of the page. Make sure to select one that lets
you deny posts with foul language etc.... |

These type of links pages allow you to display a different
page for each category. This is good if you only want links that are
related to your content and makes it very easy for visitors to find what
interests them. There are free services for this too. |
